In my most recent body of work I create non-functional, colourful, sculptural forms referencing characteristic vase profiles. I try to capture the movement and raw energy forced on the clay during the throwing process by using heavy throwing lines. I am inspired by the creative process of the potters wheel; Although I may start with a basic pre-design, all of my forms are created as a direct response to the production process, from the shape of the initial thrown form and the detail of the turned profile, to the line of the cut and the final twisting alteration that transform my pieces from vase to sculpture. My work illustrates, the beauty involved in the creative process of the potters wheel, evidenced in the final form.
